With so many events about David's life recorded, one seemingly insignificant event is often overlooked: David's dealing with Mephibosheth. In 2 Samuel 9, David deals graciously with Mephibosheth. Mephibosheth doesn't deserve anything David offers, but he is the recipient of extreme grace & mercy.
